Class Easter Party

Since the Johnson Family has been passing germs back and forth to one another over the past 3 weeks, I didn't get to help out as much with the class Easter celebration as I would have liked.
Thankfully Mrs. Jones had some cute ideas already planned and she just left me in charge of one activity and bringing in a few things.

Activity #1
Egg Dyeing
This was super fun and especially exciting for some of the kids who had never dyed eggs before.
I brought in the dye kits
&
Mrs. Jones brought in boiled eggs.
Each kid was able to dye 3.
(so glad I didn't have to boil the eggs! I have to Google a how-to every Easter and usually end up with 6 of 12 busted.)

Activity #2
Bunny Bags
I pre-cut the ears on the bags and then the kids decorated their bags and made little handles that Mrs.Jones stapled onto for them. She filled them with Easter grass and the kids used these to take their eggs home in. They were super cute!

Activity #3
Egg Site-Word find

I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was super clever.
You write part of a word(s) on one side of the egg and then the rest on the other side and you twist the eggs to make all the words.

I think this is a great idea for working on spelling, letters and math with your children (at home), but when you give a bunch of plastic eggs to 5 and 6 year olds, you end up with eggs all over the floor, mixed up, coming a part and sweaty little hands rubbing off the not so permanent Sharpie letters. Aren't Sharpies supposed to be permanent and able to write on anything????

This little girl worked really hard and found all her words by herself! She sat quietly and twisted away!

Activity #4
Snack/Egg Hunt Coloring Sheet

We agreed to do a healthy snack of fruit and crackers and tiny Easter cookies.

At the end, the kids watched the book Character Parade on TV while we cleaned up and got their eggs put into their bags.

My Aunt had given me the dye kits and a box of candy necklaces that we passed out at the end.

See this little guy the only one in focus ^? He has won my heart, well actually I adore all of these kids and feel so warmly welcomed when they greet me with hugs every time they see me, but there is something about this little guy. He was super shy at first and didn't speak much English. Now he is so proud of himself and appears so confident. A few weeks ago I was sitting outside of their classroom doing something for the teacher and he came out of the room and gave
me the biggest melt-your-heart hug.

Now it's time to enjoy our spring break at home and Easter travels in a few weeks!

So hard to believe this school year and my Owen's kindergarten days are almost over.
