The first grade at Owen's school participated in the Kids Inquiry Conference this year. The kids were placed in groups of 2 or 3 and assigned a project where they had to gather materials, make a prediction, conduct an experiment and record data. They made presentation boards and then presented at the conference. On March 20, they had an open house at the school for an hour for parents to come and see their hard work and hear their presentations. I was so impressed by their professionalism, confidence and how well they all worked together.
Owen and his friend Jackson had to bring in sponges and predict which one would absorb the most and the least water taking into consideration how big the sponges were, how many holes they had, what shape they were and what material they were made from.
Yay for a project well done!
